Experience Summary
In more than 10 years of experience as a writer and editor, I have written and edited content on health, ecological science, environmental science and policy, and education for a range of audiences, including scientists, medical professionals, economists, policymakers, farmers, and the general public.
On behalf of nongovernmental organizations, government agencies, journal publishers, and individual authors, I have planned, researched, written, revised, and edited technical and nontechnical reports, scientific journal articles, news articles, newsletters, media materials, and web page content.
Among my accomplishments, I have written newsletter-style summaries of two workshops held by the National Academies Standing Committee on Use of Emerging Science for Environmental Health Decisions; researched and wrote content for the National Biological Information Infrastructure’s pollinators node; edited and coauthored a report on a U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)–funded malaria initiative; developed several news articles that were subsequently published in Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment, a publication of the Ecological Society of America (ESA); wrote and edited meeting summaries for USAID, the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and ESA; and coauthored a book chapter on hunting for The Humane Society of the United States. I also have extensive experience preparing and presenting technical comments and testimony in response to state and federal environmental compliance documents, proposed rules, and legislation.
